Registration DAB 550N
Year 1974
Colour Golden Sand
Engine size 4,235 cc
Chassis No. 2T7692BW
Engine No. 8L58485
First registered in September 1974, this particular long wheelbase car is a totally exceptional example in every way. Supplied new by Hewitt's Garage of Stourbridge to HR Kirkman of Walsall, it was kept by him until 1984 when ownership transferred to the current vendor (who did not register it in his own name until 2005).
Throughout its entire 34 years to date, it has only covered 9,359 miles and has always been garaged and kept under blankets since 1984. The car has only covered some 300 miles during the current ownership but is regularly started and run up to temperature. During our visit to take these pictures we were treated to a short run in the car and can confirm that it ran beautifully.
Supplied with an MOT until July 2009, it also comes with various old MOTs back to 1986, it's original Passport to Service book, original Owner's Handbook and original maintenance charts and wiring diagram. Totally original and unrestored in any way, and still in excellent condition throughout, this must surely be one of the best-preserved, lowest mileage XJ6 saloons in existence. Try and find a better one.

Car returned to auction in 2012

CarFest South 'Pride & Joy' Auction
1974 Jaguar XJ6L Series II Saloon 4.2
Lot No.: 116
Registration: DAB 550N
Chassis Number: 2T7692BW
Engine Number: 8L5848S
Number of cylinders: 6
CC: 4235cc
Year of Manufacture: 1974
Sold for (£): Unsold
This unbelievable XJ6 Series II Saloon is finished in its original colour of Greensand with light tan leather interior and has covered a documented 9,500 miles from new. The car has just come back from a recommissioning that included a full mechanical overhaul ensuring that all components are working as one would expect. In short, there is no aspect of this car that has not been painstakingly improved or replaced over the years with the exact original type throughout the whole vehicle. We doubt the likes of this car will be seen again, and we urge any parties who are interested to make the journey to come and see this car as you won't be disappointed. Whilst we're realistic enough to know that a Jaguar XJ6 is not perhaps the first choice on most of our 'lottery win' lists, this is a 'best of breed' example of a fine motorcar and deserving of a place in any serious collection.
