Auction description:
Lot number 35
Hammer value 6000
Description Jaguar XJ6L Series 2
Registration DAB 550N
Year 1974
Colour Golden Sand
Engine size 4,235 cc
Chassis No. 2T7692BW
Engine No. 8L58485

First registered in September 1974, this particular long wheelbase car is a totally exceptional example in every way. Supplied new by Hewitt's Garage of Stourbridge to HR Kirkman of Walsall, it was kept by him until 1984 when ownership transferred to the current vendor (who did not register it in his own name until 2005).

Throughout its entire 34 years to date, it has only covered 9,359 miles and has always been garaged and kept under blankets since 1984. The car has only covered some 300 miles during the current ownership but is regularly started and run up to temperature. During our visit to take these pictures we were treated to a short run in the car and can confirm that it ran beautifully.

Supplied with an MOT until July 2009, it also comes with various old MOTs back to 1986, it's original Passport to Service book, original Owner's Handbook and original maintenance charts and wiring diagram. Totally original and unrestored in any way, and still in excellent condition throughout, this must surely be one of the best-preserved, lowest mileage XJ6 saloons in existence. Try and find a better one.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?:
