This XJ6 underwent an extensive restoration between 2017 and 2018, and has been with the seller for the last five years.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
The XJ6 is finished in Greensand over an Olive Green leather-trimmed cabin featuring green carpets and a walnut veneer dashboard.
It rides on a set of 15-inch wheels with chrome covers.
The specification includes air conditioning and a RetroSound radio, which includes DAB, Bluetooth, and two USB ports.
The air conditioning compressor has been replaced with an aluminium unit, and the Stromberg carburettor has been substituted with an SU HIF7 item with choke.
Accompanying the sale is the owner’s manual, repair manual, original US paperwork, import documentation, a Heritage Trust Certificate, two reports on the vehicle, and the spare wheel.
CONDITION
The seller reports that in 2017 there was some panel damage on the front right wing, and this was correct during the restoration.
The car has previously been resprayed.
Specific notes from the seller include: Areas of faded paintwork, and peeling paint under the bonnet. The seller reports that the front left seat pad would benefit from a replacement.
The speedometer needle moves erratically at slow speeds, and the starter sometimes binds when it is very hot outside. The right rear window only opens 3/4. The rear window switches do not operate, though the windows can be operated via the front switches.
The seller notes that the vehicle sweats oil, which is normal for a classic of this age, and that the differential is leaking and should be resealed. The car needs between 30 and 50 seconds on a cold start before it runs properly.
The most recent roadworthiness inspection was reportedly conducted in June 2022, resulting in a clean pass.
SERVICE HISTORY
Classic Garage Hanover carried out a service and TÜV inspection in June 2022 at approximately 71,500 miles, which included servicing the air conditioning system and replacing the engine oil, oil filter, and coolant.
Services are reported to have been carried out regularly during current ownership.
Parts fitted in 2022 include a new battery, a second viscous coupling, an aluminium air conditioning compressor, new air conditioning connections for R134a, air conditioning valves, an SU carburettor with choke, an exterior mirror, boot carpet, winter tyres on steel wheels, and a new stereo. Additionally, the US emissions system and catalytic converter were removed.
The coolant and washer pump were replaced in 2021.
New carburettors, chokes, and a viscous coupling were fitted in 2020.
In 2019, the spark plugs and a coolant hose were replaced.
Many replacement or upgraded parts were fitted in 2018 including the brakes, camshaft bearings, water pump, air conditioning compressor, seals, servo pump, air conditioning lines (refilled with R134a), coolant lines, an electronic ignition system, ignition coils and cables, starter, battery, tyres, wheel bearings, upper and lower ball joints, and tie rod ends.
Also in 2018, the gearbox and heater box were checked, cavity sealing and wax were applied to the underbody, the carburettor and the valves were adjusted, the left-hand side of the bumper was fixed, and the fuel pumps were cleaned and repaired.
