Year: 1976  Make: Jaguar Model: XJ6C Series 2 Coupe — Custom Creation Color: Red Odometer: 34,845 Original miles Vin Number: UG2J51850BW Transmission: Rare 5-speed manual shifter

Details, Opinions:

This is a super unique and highly special Jaguar XJ6C custom built show car. The original owner purchased it brand new at a Jaguar dealership in New York during the Fall of 1976. It was driven only as a second vehicle until it was sold to the second owner in 1985. The car had only 28,365 miles on it.

The second owner, a high-profile attorney in New York, had a vision (and the money) to create a custom XJ6C that would be like no other in the world.

The build project began in the fall of 1985 and was completed in March of 1988. It was an amazing piece that was ready for special car shows all around New York for a few years then transported to Venice, Florida so the newly retired attorney could win more trophies here in Florida. It was hauled around in it's own enclosed trailer in New York and here in Florida as well.

List of customization:

• High performance Jaguar inline 6 cylinder engine with engine oil cooler • 3 Weber carbs with port injected nitrous oxide • Free flow stainless steel exhaust system with custom headers Get hot coated) • 5 speed British Leyland manual transmission with Centerforce heavy duty clutch • Blow shield (Kevlar blanket) • Custom roll bar • BBS modular racing wheels with 5 Dunlop 225-50-16 high performance tires • Hi-tech 120 amp sound system with trunk mounted 6-CD changer • Extensive chrome plating of engine compartment • Cars claw head (Teny's Jaguar) • Dual electric fans with high flow radiator • Carrillo rods • ARP head studs • 9.5 to 1 pistons • WAD camshafts • Billet crank (original cost $7,000) • Engine stroked and bored to 4.5 liters • Detroit locker differential (Dana) in Salisbury housing (3.78 to 1) • 1 inch custom front sway bar • 7/8 inch Harvey Bailey rear sway bar • Quick ratio steering spool valve • A/C, Power Windows, Power Steering

Partial list of awards won:

• First place and Best Paint - World of Wheels, Boston Ma. • Best in show and first in class - Newport Jaguar Festival • Six first places - British Car Day at Larz Anderson Auto Museum • Eight first places -JCNA - Concours D'Elegance • Two first places - Bay State Antique Auto Club • Ten first places - British Invasion, Stowe, Vt. • Best Engine Compartment - British Invasion, Stowe, Vt. • Best in Class - Newport Concours D'Elegance 2008 • Presidents Choice awarded by Suncoast Jaguar Club at the 2016 Concours D' Elegance at St. Annands Circle, Sarasota, Florida.

In April of 1988, just before the New York car show season was to launch, the car was appraised for $125,000 by Peter Gould with B.A.U. Auto Appraisers in New Hampshire. I have a copy of the appraisal in the file.

The car has won many, many, many trophies throughout the years and was featured in some magazines. I have a copy of one magazine article about the car.

The current owner is the third owner. The car was here on consignment by the second owner who built the car and a local car nut (3rd owner) purchased it. He loves this car, but recently purchased a rare Rolls—Rolls from Germany and needs the garage space for it instead. Hence the sale of this Jag.

You will notice that there is a Nitro system in the rear trunk which feeds into the engine. That was installed more for shows and was never implemented. It works, but it is currently disconnected. There's even a Nitro boost button on the shifter; functional and disconnected, but it looks cool.

Report:

The car drives excellent. The engine fires right up and runs smooth. The engine has a very nice throttle response.

Excellent paint all around the car — show quality mirror-finish paint (not just ordinary paint job quality), and certainly no rust anywhere. No chips, scratches, or cracks anywhere.

The car drives excellent. There's no pull to one side or the other when going straight down the road.

The suspension is nice and firm with no rattles or noises of any kind.

The transmission shifts perfect. Excellent clutch. The interior smells great — no perfume or body odor at all. No absolutely a non-smoker car. Very nice and clean interior.

Very clean underbelly — show quality underbelly

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
