This 1975 Jaguar XJ6C coupe was purchased out of Southern California by the seller in 2001, and it has been fitted with an overbored Series III 4.2-liter inline-six and a GM 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission, both of which were rebuilt in 2023. Other modifications include a 1994 Jaguar limited-slip differential with 3.54:1 gearing and outboard brakes as well as manual-choke Zenith-Stromberg carburetors, PerTronix electronic ignition, an auxiliary electric cooling fan, and a Pioneer DEH-P2500 CD stereo. The car is finished in white over blue leather upholstery and is equipped with 15″ alloy wheels, an independent front and rear suspension, burl walnut trim, automatic climate control, rear-cabin heating and ventilation controls, and power windows. This Series II XJ6 coupe is now offered with service records from current ownership, manufacturer’s literature, XJ6 books and manuals, removed parts, and a clean Washington title in the seller’s name.
The two-door car rides on a 108.8″ wheelbase and is said to have been repainted in Old English White during the 1990s, and the factory-installed vinyl roof was removed. The rocker-panel seams at the rear of the doors were cleaned from the inside, rust was removed, and the quarter-panel wells were recoated in 2001, according to the seller. The drip rails and other trim was rechromed around 2001. Exterior features include a B-pillar-less greenhouse, quad round headlights, twin fuel-filler doors, dual exhaust outlets, and chrome bumpers with rubber guards. The grille and lamp lenses have been replaced under current ownership, and Fiam dual-tone horns have been installed behind the front license plate. The quarter-window and door-aperture weatherstripping have been replaced. The window seals atop the doors require replacement, the seller states. The seller also notes that the paint exhibits wear. Corrosion and bubbling are noted at the quarter-panel seams above the rocker panels and also at the top of the driver door.
Chrome-finished 15″ ventilated alloy wheels feature Jaguar-logo hubcaps and are mounted with 215/65 Falken Pro G5 Touring A/S tires that were installed in February 2024. The car is equipped with an independent front and rear suspension utilizing Boge front dampers and Tokiko rear dampers. The steering rack is a rebuilt unit that was installed in the mid-2000s, when polyurethane bushings and tie-rod ends were also fitted. Stopping power is provided by ventilated front and rear disc brakes. An XJS rear end installed in 2007 brings ventilated outboard rear brakes, and the front brakes and their supply hoses were renewed in 2024.
The front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in Navy Connolly leather upholstery and are complemented by burl wood accents. A Pioneer DEH-P2500 CD stereo was installed under current ownership and is paired with a Pioneer CDX-P1270 12-disc CD changer mounted in the trunk. Interior equipment includes automatic climate control, rear-cabin HVAC controls, power windows, central locking, a center console, and door-panel and rear-side pockets. The foam for the seat squabs and under the carpeting were replaced under current ownership, as were some switches. Sun visors and a rearview mirror from a Series III XJ have been fitted. The rear-window lockout switch has been repurposed as an air-conditioning-compressor master switch. The HVAC blower motors function intermittently, the finish on the glovebox door does not match the rest of the dashboard, the rear-quarter windows require manual assistance to raise upward, and the passenger door’s interior latch has a broken return spring.
The two-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket leather wrap and frames Smiths instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, a 5,500-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, voltage, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 98k miles, approximately 8k of which were accumulated under current ownership. A manual choke control has been added at the lower-left corner of the dashboard. The speedometer and the tachometer were rebuilt under current ownership. The sending unit for the left-side fuel tank’s gauge is inoperative.
The trunk compartment has been fitted with replacement carpeting and side upholstery. Corrosion is visible in the spare-tire well, which houses a nonmatching spare showing a 2023 date code.
The 4.2-liter inline-six is a replacement piece that was sourced from a 1978 Series III XJ. A rebuild of the engine and its cylinder head began in 2015, involved boring the block .030″ over, and was completed by 2022. The bearings, rings, timing chain, valves, water pump, alternator, fuel pumps, belts, and hoses have been replaced. Other components in the engine bay include:
Short-skirt pistons
ARP bolts
Reground crankshaft
GM 350–style conversion for rear crankshaft lip seal
High-strength valve springs
Exhaust-cam-followers stakedown kit
PerTronix electronic ignition
High-volume oil pump
Spin-on oil filter
GM starter
Torquatrol viscous fan clutch
Spal auxiliary electric cooling fan
Transmission cooler
The Zenith-Stromberg CD175 carburetors have been replaced with manual-choke units and were rebuilt since 2023. The fuel tanks were cleaned in 2024, and additional in-line fuel filters were installed. The battery was replaced in late 2023, and the spark plugs and ignition wires were replaced in spring 2025. The seller states that the carbon canister for the emissions-control system is in need of renewal.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a General Motors 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission that has an overdrive gear and a vacuum-controlled lockup torque converter; the transmission was rebuilt in 2023. The transmission and the engine are linked via a Quarterbreed adapter kit from John’s Cars. The limited-slip differential was sourced from a 1994 Jaguar XJS with a 3.54:1 final-drive ratio. The floor pans were patched when the car was repainted in the 1990s.
Removed smog controls and the drilled Series II cylinder head will accompany the vehicle along with manufacturer’s literature and Jaguar books..
The car’s chassis number is listed as UF2J51126BW although the “BW” suffix is dropped from the tag at the windshield pillar. The Washington title also omits the BW portion, reading UF2J51126.
