Opening bid $2,000 reserve not met, no bids yet 1 day left in auction.

Sellers description:
1973 collectible is the last year of the XJ6 Series 1. It has had the same owner for the last 18 years and has been garage kept for that entire time. Has not seen rain in 18 years. I am assuming that a reasonably knowledgable Jaguar person is reading this ad so I will skip the desciption of the obvious specifications of this model year. It does have factory air and power windows. The air conditioning unit is intact and belted but is not working at present. All windows work fine as do all gauges and switches.

The car is 38 years young. I would consider this a "driver" car at present, but has been shown at show and shine meets. Mechanically very sound but not currently a show car. At present would probably score a 6 or 7 out of 10 for presentation and fit and finish, and a 8 or 9 out of 10 for mechanical. Far from perfect, but perfect from afar. Car will comfortably do 70 plus miles per hour all day long with only air whistles from old window seals. Hold all fluids. Original gas tanks very solid. Even has original heat sheilds on motor. Car starts very well with the manual choke. 4.2 L Motor is very strong. Transmission works excellently and has no issues. Original AM/FM radioworks fine.

Most records kept of work completed over the years. Professionally Appraised at $6,000 Can. in 2007.

Some highlights of work already completed:

Head Gasket replaced, New Starter, Copper brake lines all replaced with new steel due to local inspection laws, all new brakes (very smooth), all new exhaust, all new bushings, all new shocks, new tires (Motomaster, sorry), Carbs tuned, obvious things like point, cap, wires , plugs, oil and filter regularly, Dash recovered, front seats tops redone, drivers door panel completely refinished, headliner replaced and refinished in tan leatherette, some interior wood trim refinished nicely, new fuel pump (electronic) on right tank (original still on and working on left tank), car was painted approx 8 years ago, originally dark blue (small evidence of original color in engine bay area only), now emerald green metallic, just starting to show a blister or 2, but overall the paint is holding up very well. Underside has been coated and shows no signs of rust or need of repair.

Some highlights of things I would suggest being done other than just cleaning and driving the car:

If I was to keep it and budget permitted, I would remove and refinish wood on the dashboard, replace hubcaps that have been painted silver over the years, touch up the few spots of paint that are blistered or chipped (pint of touch up paint included), replace felt door trim that is showing age and has small overspray from paint, refinish interior as budget permitts, very presentable right now but could use refinishing, repair or replace power antenna motor (goes up and down manually now), all other switches and electrical work fine. replace missing front "bumperettes" the chrome covers over the chrome hoops currently exposed on original front bumper.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
