Ebay item 6/19/12 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Series-Jasper-hi-performance-engine-pro-Chevy-350-conver ...
Current bid $1,346, no reserve, 6 bids 1 day left in auction.
Sellers description:
I've owned this car since 1988. Title is California, free and clear (non-operational registration). No hidden fees or back taxes. The car has been in storage many years.
If you want a XJ Jag believe you me you don't want the Jag engine. The first year with all stock Jaguar internals, it seemed like something would break every trip. A Jag water pump cost $300 from a junkyard. I had a Chevy conversion done by Terry Hahn of Fresno, CA, a former race-car builder. The conversion work is pro and complete (Chevy engine conversions are standard procedures for Jags). I've put over $20,000 into this car. I think it's one of the best-looking cars ever.
As much as I want to keep the car I need the money so it must go. The engine is a Jasper hi-performance Chevy 350 with a Holly carburator. This is actually the last of multiple engines - I've gone thru a couple for stupid reasons like dropping an air filter screw down the manifold (The current engine is very good).
Driving: the motor has a deep rumble like a stock race car. Body is in good shape - I have had trouble with the left hood latch, that's about it. There is almost no rust (except on the bumper for some reason). Tires are good. The electric windows work. The paint is good, I had it painted once, it is supposed to be Lemans Green but I think it came out a little off from the Jaguar default. Either way it'll need a good waxing. Since the car has been sitting for years, it took a lot of cranking to start the engine. I drove it in New Jersey; it ran rough - I think it needs some kind of gunk-goo engine cleaner treatment. The seat cushions are well.. old. The picture of the interior is old: there is a lot of dust now and the wood has faded. I don't have any more pictures available. I'm pretty sure the battery is in it, but given that I haven't tried starting it in a couple years, don't expect to simply put the key in and drive out. The pictures of it in the storage yard by the fence is about 2 years old and should be what it looks like now. There is a Sun computer monitor in the back seat and a lot of technical computer books in the trunk - they are yours with the car. I took the license plate off (front one is missing) and will deliver that, title and keys to the buyer upon recieving payment.
