Car was at auction in '96
www.classicauctions.co.uk/lotdetail.php

Auction description:
Lot : 22
1987 Jaguar Sovereign 5.3
Superb Original Condition - 67000 Miles
Estimate: SOLD for £3500
Registration No: A3 AVC
Chassis No: SAJJDALW3CA478345
Engine No: 7PO58830HA
CC: 5343
Colour: White
Trim Colour: Beige
MOT: 30.5.1997
This is truly one of the best examples of the Jaguar XJ12 Sovereign we have ever seen and it was bought by the Wedding Hire company some four years ago from a Main Saab Dealership who took it in part exchange. It is tested until May next year, it is also taxed until the end of November this year and the mileage of 67000 is guaranteed.
The car is finished in White with the Beige interior and it is in truly exceptional condition throughout. The whole car is unmarked including the alloy wheels and as far as we can tell the car is totally untouched and original. Cars of this quality are difficult to come by and this one can perform any role the new owner can ask it to do - and it will do it superbly.

If this is an AJ6 as indicated by the VIN, then it would seem it were an XJ40, not a Series III, and hence would not belong in this register.

Older but comprehensive restoration

Purchased by our current vendor, Tom, in late 1996 with a mileage of 67,000 miles and a complete service history, this range topping Jaguar XJ V12 was finished in White with Tan leather interior. Within the first few years a full restoration took place. New wings, doors, boot, front and rear valances and also new bumpers, front and rear windows removed and a full respray undertaken, oh, and the pepperpot alloys were reconditioned. The fact is, Tom had a lot of work done in the late 90s. We have the invoices on file from specialists XJ Services and David Marks that we would encourage you to view. Safe to say that by the time he had finished, he had the car he desired in the condition he wanted. Tom has continued to enjoy the Jaguar for the last 25 years with ongoing general maintenance and careful attention to detail.

Relocating to the Isle of Man in 2016, Tom was obviously joined by his beloved Jaguar and soon after decided that a colour change would be a good idea but what colour to choose? Now Tom is also the proud owner of a Triumph Rocket 3 motorcycle, we think by now that you will have the cut of Tom’s jib, and guess what, he loved the colour. We think it’s called Cranberry but we’re not sure, however, we are sure that it looks terrific on this svelte and elegant big cat. Complementing the Tan leather beautifully.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
