This 1987 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas recently underwent a mechanical refurbishment that included overhauling the 4.2-liter inline-six, brake system, and suspension as well as servicing the three-speed automatic transmission. Finished in metallic beige over tan leather upholstery, it is equipped with 15” wire-spoke wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a power-operated sunroof, air conditioning, heated and power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, a trip computer, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. The car spent time in New York and Florida and was acquired by the seller in 2021. This Series III XJ6 shows 41k miles and is offered at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a set of factory wheels, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in metallic beige and features quad headlights, Vanden Plas badging, and a ‘Leaper’ hood ornament. Additional exterior details include a power-operated sunroof, a power antenna, power-adjustable mirrors, twin fuel filler caps, and dual exhaust outlets.

Chrome-finished 15″ wire-spoke wheels are mounted with 215/70 Cooper CS5 Grand Touring tires. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. Work in July 2023 included installing Bilstein front and KYB rear shocks, repainting the front subframe, and replacing the suspension mounts, springs, control arm bushings, ball joints, wheel bearings, and seals. The brake master cylinder, rotors, calipers, hoses, and pads were also replaced at that time.

The cabin features heated and power-adjustable front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in tan leather upholstery in addition to high-gloss wood veneer and bright trim throughout. Amenities include air conditioning, a digital trip computer, cruise control, and an AM/FM cassette stereo.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel is mounted to an adjustable steering column and frames a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplemental gauges. The six-digit odometer shows 41k miles, while the Carfax report shows 49k reported miles in a November 2022 entry. The seller reports that approximately 300 miles have been added under current ownership.

The fuel-injected 4.2L inline-six was factory rated at 176 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque. During the aforementioned overhaul, the front crankshaft seal, water pump, thermostat, distributor cap, ignition wires, belts, radiator hoses, and oil pan gaskets were replaced along with the air conditioning compressor, drier, and expansion valve. A coolant flush and an oil change were also performed.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Service in July 2023 included replacement of the transmission filter and gasket as well as the spool mount. The mufflers were replaced in November 2022, per the seller.

Manufacturer’s literature, service records, and a set of factory wheels are included in the sale.
