Ebay item 3/22/15
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-XJ6-base-/181694137512
Current bid US $4,500, no reserve, 1 bid 3 days left in auction. 57k miles.

Sellers description:
I don't think you can find a better series III Jaguar XJ6 than this car. The low mileage matches Carfax. Also the documented life in S. California and Washington state (no salt on roads, etc.)
THIS CAR IS BEAUTIFUL. it drives great, too. (No Reserve, only starting price. Might add a Buy It Now if someone wants). No "stories".

1985 Jag XJ6. Low Mileage, confirmed by Carfax. I bought it 5 years ago. Previous owner was car collector. Car was in Southern Calif. for 15 years and Washington state last 15 years (as per Carfax; license plate holder is "Hornburg Jaguar" a Santa Monica dealer
I drove 10-12 of these cars 5 years ago. this was the best. and the color combination was my personal favorite. I had a thorough "pre-purchase inspection" by a noted well known local Jaguar mechanic. He did a compression test on the engine that showed: all 6 cylinders had 155.

Paint and interior are almost certainly original. As far as I know everything works, except cruise control is intermittent-maybe I don't know how to use it. I drive it anywhere.

Pictures of underbody and under spare tire show lack of rust.

Over last 5 years has had:

1. Brakes: new front brake calipers, rotors, and pads (2015). rear brakes inspected (2012) with new pads. new master cylinder (2010)
2. new Diehard platinum battery (2012)
3. new water pump and all hoses (2014)
4. transmission mounts (2012)
5. new distributor and coil (2010)
6. steering rack (2010)
7. new Yokohama Avid 215/70-15 tires (2010 mileage 52,540)

these cars rust below the rear windows on both sides. NONE of that appears in this car.

The leather seats have wear befitting mileage. The wood veneer on dashboard is in great condition. The books and manuals that came with the car are still there.

Cons:
1. surface rust both sides lower windshield. this is common on these cars, but local restorer says it is not deep, only surface. (see photos)
2. headliner sags in rear. it is not bad as these cars go. (see photos)
3. upholstery wear. tears in back seat.

Car can be seen and you can have it inspected. central Seattle. There are really no mysteries about it.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
