Lot #191907

This 1982 Jaguar XJ6 was delivered new to Dodge City of Utica Inc. in Yorkville, New York, and it remained registered in the state with three owners before it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024. Powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, the car is finished in red over Biscuit leather upholstery. It has 15″ Kent alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof, a power antenna, a cassette stereo, front bucket seats, automatic climate control, a trunk-mounted CD changer, and power windows. This Series III XJ6 shows 43k miles and is now offered by the selling dealer at no reserve with a window sticker, owner’s manuals, partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New Jersey title.

The Pininfarina-styled bodywork was finished in Damson Red (CDG) from the factory, and exterior details include a power sunroof, a power antenna, power-adjustable side mirrors, bright trim, and dual exhaust outlets. Rust bubbles are present at the base of the rear window seal, the bodywork is creased near the right taillight assembly, and paint checking is present on the roof.

The 15″ Kent vented alloy wheels are mounted with 215/60 Definity HP800 tires that show 2013 production codes, and braking is handled by ventilated front and solid inboard rear discs. Cracks and imperfections are visible on the wheel center caps.

The seating surfaces are trimmed in Biscuit while burl wood accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Interior equipment includes a cassette stereo, a trunk-mounted CD changer, front bucket seats, automatic climate control, and power windows and locks. There are tears in the front seat upholstery.

The two-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline as well as gauges for oil pressure, voltage, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The six-digit odometer shows 43k miles, a handful of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.2-liter inline-six was factory rated at 205 horsepower and 231 lb-ft of torque. The oil was changed and the coolant was flushed in 2022, and the selling dealer tells us the battery was replaced in 2025.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a BorgWarner three-speed automatic transmission.

The window sticker lists initial delivery to Dodge City of Utica Inc. in Yorkville, New York, along with colors, equipment, and a total amount of $29, 820. A Jaguar-branded duffel, owner’s manuals, and partial service records are included in the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
