Car to be at auction 1/22

Auction description:
1974 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 Auto Series II
Lot Number: 445
Estimate: £2,000 - 3,000
V5 Present
MoT Exempt
Chassis number: 2T5704BW
This Fern Grey Series II Jaguar XJ6 L 4.2 Automatic, registered in October 1974, has been off the road since 1991. It was bought from a Jaguar collector with its engine removed due to piston damage. A new engine was subsequently fitted, although the original unit is included with the sale. The odometer shows circa 26,000 miles and there has been one previous owner.
The paperwork folder is quite extensive. It includes an old V5 document along with the original bill of sale (when the cost was £4,913.87, less part exchange on an earlier XJ6) and service and maintenance records and invoices that seem to verify the low mileage. These start from when the car was new and stretch through to when it was taken off the road, with most of them coming from the supplying dealership, Barnard Motors Ltd of Haslemere in Surrey. The Jaguar/British Leyland 'Passport to Service' booklet is stamped up to 18,057 miles in 1979. The only recent bill is from January 2022 for new black and silver number plates. The vendor believes the Jaguar to be 'very structurally sound with a very nice interior'.
Although we have heard this car running briefly, the fuel system requires cleaning out and further recommissioning work before use. As such this Jaguar will not be driven through the auction.
