Car to be at auction 6/17
www.brightwells.com/classic-motoring/bicester-classic-vintage/bicester-classic-v ...
Auction description:
Registration Date 1977
Make & Model Daimler Double-Six Vanden Plas
Colour Dark Red
Registration Number YGY 235
Chassis No. 2P-2079BW
Engine size 5,343 cc
Engine No. 33490
Documents V5C; due to have a fresh MOT; large history file
Estimate £14,000 - £16,000
This most impressive looking Double-Six was first registered in August 1977 to Barber Greene Ltd, for their chairman to be chauffeured around in. It covered 35,000 miles in their hands, before being sold in late 1979 to the Bank of Boston for their president to be whisked around the City. The Bank of Boston added a mere 8,000 miles in the eighteen years that they owned it before selling it on to Spearpoint Bland, a London insurance company who kept it for a further five years. Since 2002, this Daimler has had just two further private owners, bringing the total to five.
The supplied Heritage Certificate confirms that this Daimler Double-Six wears its original colours, its immaculate Amethyst paintwork with Black Everflex Roof and dark Olive hides and Natural carpets remaining in superb condition.
There is a comprehensive history file with the car, containing numerous detailed invoices, the original service book and Daimler Unipart Passport along with 25 old MOTs indicating that the indicated mileage of 66,000 is correct. The file includes every receipt for work carried out on the car during its lifetime and shows the care and attention that has resulted in such a good example.
The last MOT was issued on 1st October 2015 with no advisories (it will have a new one before the sale) and it starts instantly, drives smoothly and should now be treasured as an example of British motoring history. Careful ownership will doubtless pay dividends in terms of future value and what a talking point the fortunate new owner will have in the meantime...

A beautiful example of this wonderfully appointed British marque presented in its original colours featuring olive hide & black Everflex vinyl roof with Heritage certificate.

Barber Greene covered 35,000 miles before selling it in late 1979 to the Bank of Boston for their president to be chauffeured in. The Bank of Boston only covered a further 8,000 miles in the eighteen years that they owned it before selling it on to Spearpoint Bland, a London insurance company who kept it for five years.
