This Regency Red car is one of the last SWB XJs built, a Series 2 car built in 1974, the final year of SWB production. It is a really tidy example, the paintwork matched with a ultra 70s vinyl roof and a light Biscuit leather interior. It is in good order, a sense supported by the usual voluntary MOT that runs to February 2027 with no advisories.
It is also a car that hides some interesting upgrades. The electric mirrors, from a XJS but fitted as standard to later XJs, are easy to spot, but the fuel injection upgrade is less so. It was part of a comprehensive £9,000 project in 2016 by engine specialist Tom Lenhall. More recent work includes fitting a reconditioned gearbox in 2023 and an overhaul of the electrics in 2024. That work has been part of a £9,000 spend since 2023 that also featured new front and rear screen seals, speedo driver overhaul, oil sender and pressure switch and servicing.
The Series 2 XJ is one of Jaguar’s best ever cars and the SWB version arguably one of the prettiest saloons made. This much-loved car with its recent work and upgrades looks tempting.
The vendor says:
“This vehicle purrs. It is smooth and unbelievably comfortable - a low-mileage crowd pleaser. It has appeared at classic car shows and has featured on the front cover of Jaguar World (magazine comes with the car). A beautiful classic, that really stands out from others in its class.”
