1973 Jaguar XJ6 - Broadspeed Body Kit
88,440 miles
automatic
RHD
Volkswagen Dragon Green
Red
4.3L Straight-Six
VIN2N1359BW
This early short-wheelbase Jaguar XJ6 is an eye-catching classic saloon, which has been rebuilt and fitted with a Broadspeed body kit inspired by the XJ12-C driven by John Steed in The New Avengers.
Power comes from a 4.2-litre straight-six, producing 150bhp and 213lb-ft of torque, coupled to a three-speed Borg-Warner automatic transmission.
It was featured in the March 2021 issue of Jaguar World magazine in a six-page feature titled ‘Copy Cat’, after the team spotted the car on social media.
The odometer shows 88,440 miles.
This XJ6 has been comprehensively resprayed in the Volkswagen shade of Dragon Green.
It has a full Broadspeed bodykit, which includes a set of modified rear doors.
It rides on a set of 15-inch Wolfrace wheels, shod with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tyres.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in red leather, complemented by an elegant wood dashboard panel and black accents.
Equipment includes a two-spoke steering wheel, a Kienzle analogue clock, Smiths dials, a heated rear window, heating and ventilation controls, and an updated Wharfedale stereo with AUX and Bluetooth.
It is also fitted with a Fastflow stainless steel exhaust system.
The standard twin SU carburettors were swapped for triple Weber items from a 4.2-litre E-Type. In order for them to fit, the air filter had to be modified.
Accompanying the vehicle will be the original owner’s manuals, a copy of the March 2021 issue of Jaguar World, and a collection of maintenance invoices and MOT test certificates.
CONDITION
The car was resprayed around four years ago, with the engine and interior components removed.
The HPI report indicates that the car was originally painted in red.
As far as the seller is aware, the interior is original, with the exception of the dashboard.
Specific notes from the seller include: minor rust bubbling on the bottoms of the doors, and a small tear on the driver’s seat.
The carburettors are in working order but would benefit from being tuned.
The tachometer needle can occasionally drop, before returning to its previous position. The seller is unsure whether this is an electrical fault because on other occasions it works fine.
With more than two people in the car, the rear inner wings can rub on the rear tyres. This can also occur when cornering hard. In their view, the perfect fix would be to get the inner arches widened; but smaller wheels could also be fitted.
The electric windows are all very worn and slow to operate, so a recommended job for the next owner would be to have these refurbished.
The most recent MOT test was on 20 Nov 2024 at 86,912 miles, which was a first-time pass with no advisories.
