Sale 18213 - Collectors' Motor Cars and Automobilia, 2 Jul 2010
Goodwood Festival of Speed, Chichester, Sussex
Lot No: 362
1977 Daimler Sovereign 4.2 litre Two Dour Coupé
Registration no. UMX 567S (see below)
Chassis no. 2H 2329BW
Engine no. 8L 50583S
Estimate: £9,000 - 12,000

This car (body no. 5H 2434) was carefully selected by the present owner from Hurst Park Automobiles, specialists in low mileage cars with top history, and then had just one previous owner, R L Barrett of Beckenham, who had taken delivery of the car in August 1977 from Daimler dealers, Loxleys (Bromley) Ltd. At the time of cataloguing the car has covered just 34,000 or so miles and careful ownership during that mileage is reflected in the overall condition. Coachwork is liveried in Green Sand and the interior is furnished with beige leather and brown carpets. The car features the distinctive vinyl roof of the model with an opening sunroof and top specification includes also automatic transmission and electric windows. The car was formerly registered in England, UMX 567S, although during its present Irish ownership has been registered as an historic vehicle in Ireland with ZV registration plates. It comes with an English V5 registration document, a number of old MoT certificates and tax discs, some invoices relating to maintenance, an Irish registration document, together with its original British Leyland Passport and Owner's Handbook.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
