Seller's description:
1979 Jaguar XJ6 4.2

This Series 2 Jaguar XJ6 was recently pulled out of a garage, where it had spent some 30 years in hybernation. It was originally delivered and registered in the Netherlands in 1979, with 2 registered owners. The previous owner was a Jaguar enthusiast, who has done a number of rebuild jobs on the car. It is not currently running and should be considered a project car, looking for a practically minded owner.

For a series 2 XJ, the body is in better than average condition. It received a thorough Dinitrol anti-rust treatment in the past and appears to have been rather well preserved. However, it will need rust repair in some typical weak areas. Most noticeably the sill panels, left front fender and rear wheel arch corners.

The Jaguar had a respray in the past, in its original dark blue colour. The paint work looks presentable, but will need detailing work at the very least.

The light tan interior is in good original condition, with obvious signs of ageing and light wear. A few dashboard panels were removed, to gain access to the car’s relays. The odometre shows 33.935 km.

Mechanically, the Jaguar needs attention in a number of areas. Starting with the 4.2 litre XK engine, where the cylinder head nuts are all loose. The car will likely need a new cylinder head gasket, or has already received one, before finishing the installation. New water pump and coolant hoses. Both front and rear suspension have been rebuilt by the previous owner, and the rebuilt brake system is functional. The exhaust is loosely mounted and both rear dampers need to be repaired.

Aftermarket Wolfrace wheels with good tyres, although they should probably be replaced due to age.

An interesting project car in need of some body and recommissioning work.
SOLD

The Jaguar XJ6 has a Dutch registration and can be delivered with a Dutch export certificate.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
