California Car, Enthusiast Owned
Very nice and well-sorted 1985 Jaguar XJ6 for sale. This original California car was purchased new at British Motor Car Distributors in San Francisco, California, on April 3rd, 1985, and remained under its original ownership until it was purchased by its current British car enthusiast owner in 2001. It has been garaged since new and driven an average of 3,500 miles per year over its lifetime — just 1,300 miles per year under current ownership. Includes original books and manuals and a clean Carfax report.
The original 4.2L inline-six starts and runs beautifully, with smooth shifting, handling, and braking that are both tight and responsive. Services performed within the last 1,000 miles include alignment, new brake pads, oil change, new steering gear bushings, transmission service, antifreeze/coolant flush, brake system bleed, new drive belts, front brake rotors and pads, new thermostat and heater hoses, and new transmission mounts — making it a wonderful driving car.
The exterior is accident-free and still wears its original Regent Grey Metallic paint, which shines beautifully, though there is some fine checking on the roof. The original wheels are in nice shape and wrapped in an older set of Pirelli 215/70 ZR15s that should eventually be replaced due to age. The glass, chrome, trim, and rubber are all in very nice condition, and the exterior presents well.
The cabin retains its original Doeskin leather interior — warm and inviting with that unmistakable aroma of Connolly leather and Wilton wool. This non-smoker’s car has a recently replaced headliner, and all instruments and controls are in proper working order, including the lights, blinkers, power mirrors, horn, stereo, and air conditioning. The onboard computer functions correctly in all modes, and every interior light operates as intended. We’ve found nothing that doesn’t work properly. The sunroof motor operates and the panel opens and closes, though it would benefit from a service, so we’ve left it closed until that can be done. Overall, the car has been exceptionally well cared for, with an excellent original interior — supple leather, clean door panels, a tidy dash, and both fuel tanks and gauges functioning correctly.
