Ebay item 12/21/14
www.ebay.com/itm/321622410919
Car has a buy it now price of $7,000 for 6 days.

Sellers description:
1970 Jaguar XJ has been fully gone through and can be driven anywhere! This is a classy car with all the amenities and comfort of a newer car and turns heads everywhere it goes. The car drives straight, rides smooth and begs to be driven on the highway.

Body is in very nice shape and rust free. It has been repainted in the original signal red color code. All the panels line up and gaps are even. The rear windshield seal and door seals have been replaced. A new front windshield seal is included with the sale of the car (not installed). It doesn't leak but should be replaced in the near future. All the chrome and trim is in very nice condition. The paint is very presentable but please do not expect a concours d'elegance show car.

All of the brakes have been rebuilt and/or replaced. Extensive amount of work has gone into this car. The power brake booster was rebuilt, a new master cylinder was installed as well as all four brake calipers were rebuilt within the last year. New rotors and pads all the way around as well as new front and rear brake hoses.

The car sports a healthy Chevy 350 cu in. mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. The swap was done by the previous owners. New Holley 390cfm carburetor and Electric Radiator Fan. Very reliable, easy to maintain and plenty of power. The speedometer cable is not hooked up but I believe there are adapter kits to go from the Jaguar speedo to the Chevy transmission. The drive shaft and half shafts all have new u-joints. This car sounds great and turns heads!

The suspension is solid and doesn't squeak or make any unusual noises. Several bushings have been replaced recently.

The power steering works flawlessly. The car handles great.

The interior is presentable but could use some attention. The upper headliner surround pieces have been nicely re-upholstered in black and they look really nice but never got around to the rest of the interior. The driver seat is still very comfortable but the bottom straps for the passenger seat are worn and it sags in the middle. All of the power windows operate. All of the dash instrumentation panel lights work.

Things to note: Since we bought this car the fuel tank on the left side (driver) had not been in use for an unknown amount of time. The car only uses the fuel tank on the right side. Condition of heater and AC are unknown. I have never fiddled with the heater to see if it works. The car seems to have a complete AC system as well but I don't know what it would take to get it fully operational. The car has a CD player and nice speakers all the way around but I believe the fuse in the CD head unit is blown as it was working previously.

The rear windshield seal has been replaced and the new windshield seal is included with the sale of the car (not installed). It doesn't leak but should be replaced in the near future. All the chrome and trim is in very nice condition. I have attached a pic of a paint chip that can be easily touched up by the rear window seal and some paint runs on the lower driver's side rocker panel. The runs can be color sanded out. I have included these pictures in order to disclose any imperfections I have found with the paint.

This is a big job to do on these older jaguars, so the new owner will have the assurance that the new brakes will last them for a good while.

The car sports a healthy crate Chevy 350 cu in. mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. New Holley 390cfm carburetor. Very reliable, easy to maintain and plenty of power. New Electric Fan, the car no longer has the flex fan as shown in the pictures. The car stays cool in all weather and doesn't overheat. The speedometer cable is not hooked up but I believe there are adapter kits to go from the Jaguar speedo to the Chevy transmission. The drive shaft and half shafts all have new u-joints.

The suspension is solid and doesn't squeak or make any unusual noises. With several new bushings throughout.

The interior is presentable but could use some attention. The upper headliner surround pieces have been reupholstered in black. The driver seat is still very comfortable but the bottom straps for the passenger seat are worn and it sags in the middle (there is a small pillow stuffed beneath the seat to keep it from sagging). The top of the rear seat has some cracking due to age and sun damage. All of the power windows operate. All of the dash instrumentation panel lights work.

Things to note: We bought this car with the fuel tank on the left side (driver) inoperable, it had not been in use for an unknown amount of time. The car only uses the fuel tank on the right side. The AC seems to have worked at one point not too long ago but the lines are free of refrigerant and the Sanden 508 AC compressor leaks from the fittings. The Compressor clutch does engage when the AC is turned on. I suspect the AC only needs a service and recharge. The heater is all there and all the knobs turn freely and engage but it doesn't blow air through the vents, maybe a bad blower motor? The AC faceplate was stolen but the stereo system and speaker do work.

I have tried to disclose all information to the best of my knowledge. This is one hell of a car for the price for someone looking to get into the classic car scene and super reliable.

This 1970 Jaguar XJ6 is a Series I example that underwent a repaint, an interior re-trim, and installation of a 6.2-liter LS376/525 V8 crate engine as part of a build completed by Galpin Auto Sports of Van Nuys, California, from 2018 to 2023 at a cost of over $190k. The car is finished in multi-stage black and rides on 18″ American Racing wheels, while the cabin features black leather upholstery and piano black trim as well as a full-length center console. Further interior additions include a Nardi steering wheel, Dakota Digital instrumentation, an Alpine touchscreen head unit, a Focal stereo, and a retrofitted climate control system. The engine is backed by a 4L70E four-speed automatic transmission and equipped with Hooker shorty-style headers flowing into a stainless-steel dual exhaust system. Acquired by the seller in 2026, this modified XJ6 is now offered with build records and a California title in their name.

The last Jaguar designed under the leadership of founder Sir William Lyons, the XJ6 was unveiled in 1968 and built through 1992. This Series I example was stripped, underwent bodywork, and repainted in its current multi-stage black finish as part of the aforementioned build. LED headlamps have been added up front, and further details include a driver-side mirror, dual fuel-filler doors, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

The black-finished 18″ VN327 Rally wheels from American Racing wear bright center caps and are wrapped in Yokohama rubber. The power steering, suspension, and four-wheel disc brakes were overhauled in the course of the build.

The seats, dash, center console, and door panels are upholstered in black leather, while the floors are lined with wool carpets atop Dynamat underlayment. Piano black trim accents the dash as well as the full-length center console, and the center stack features a custom switch panel with a Dakota Digital control unit for the retrofitted climate control system. An Alpine Halo9 touchscreen head unit is connected to a backup camera as well as an upgraded stereo featuring Focal speakers, and further modifications include a push-button ignition system and keyless entry setup from Advanced Keys. The car was rewired using a Painless Performance wiring kit and the power window mechanisms were overhauled as part of the build.

The wood-rimmed Nardi 380mm steering wheel is paired with a Gear Select Module push-button gear selector in the center console. Retrofitted Dakota Digital HDX instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary readouts. The digital odometer indicates 429 miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership.

The 6.2-liter LS376/525 V8 crate engine is fitted with Hooker BlackHeart shorty-style headers that flow into a stainless-steel dual exhaust system. Further modifications include a Be Cool aluminum radiator as well as a Holley accessory drive kit and oil pan.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4L70E four-speed automatic transmission that is fitted with an auxiliary cooler. The Jaguar rear axle was rebuilt as part of the project.

The NMVTIS database lists a Salvage title associated with VIN 1L54350BW issued in Nebraska in 1992 along with an “Unknown” title information status out of California in 2018.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
