This 1986 Jaguar XJ6 is a Series III sedan finished in Regent Grey metallic over Biscuit leather and powered by 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six mated to a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was purchased new from Palm Beach Motor Cars in West Palm Beach, Florida in December 1985 and is said to have spent most of its life in North Carolina and Florida before being acquired by the seller in 2016. Work since that time has included a transmission leak repair, a climate control system service, a new ignition coil, and more as described below. This XJ6 is offered with the original bill of sale, partial service records, a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.
The exterior is finished in Regent Grey metallic (LDR), and the factory side markers and bumpers have been retained. The paintwork shows signs of checking on the upper flat surfaces along with a scuff on the left corner of the rear bumper, a spot of corrosion along the lower-center edge of the windshield, and touch-ups on the right-rear fender lip and the hood as shown in the gallery below. A dealer-installed Jaguar hood leaper is present, and the passenger-side power-adjustable mirror is noted to be inoperative.
To preserve the original wheels and tires for show purposes, the previous owner mounted a set of 15-inch Kent aluminum alloys, which are wrapped in Pirelli P4 tires manufactured in 2010.
The interior features biscuit leather on the seats, and high-gloss walnut burl veneers accent the dash, doors, and console. A power sunroof, adjustable steering column, and digital trip computer are equipped, and the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo remains mounted in the center stack. The center climate control vent was reportedly replaced in 2017, and the key-operated auto lock system will lock but not unlock
The six-gauge instrument cluster includes a 140-mph speedometer and 5,500-rpm tachometer, as well as a six-place odometer showing just over 26k miles, of which the seller has added approximately 300 in three years.
The fuel-injected 4.2L straight-six was rated at 176 horsepower and 219 lb-ft of torque when new. Work completed under current ownership included replacing the air injection hose, the ignition coil, a damaged exhaust manifold stud, and the windshield washer tank and pump. During the last service in 2017, the engine oil was changed and the idle speed was adjusted. The seller notes some oil leakage.
Shifts are handled by a Borg-Warner 3-speed transmission that was repaired for a leak in 2017. The fuel tank changeover switch was also replaced, while the differential received fresh oil and the chassis a lube.
Factory books and tools, two sets of keys plus the valet, a car cover, and the original wheels and tires are included in the sale.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage, with registration history in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
